ATLANTIC, THE DEPARTMENT FEATURING 'THE WINDOW OF DREAMS' AND A MONUMENT TO SHAKIRA
Puerto Colombia, within the Atlantic Department, is home to one of the world’s tallest monuments, known as ‘The Window of Dreams.’ This landmark surpasses globally recognized sculptures such as the Obelisk of Buenos Aires (Argentina) and the Christ the Redeemer of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).
Standing at 70 meters tall, this structure was inaugurated in December 2023. Beyond attracting tourists, it serves as a crucial reference point for vessels approaching the Colombian coast.
This monument symbolizes the progress and advancement of the region, marking a significant step towards reclaiming Puerto Colombia’s historical importance in navigation from the 1800s to the early 1900s.
The construction aims to promote the touristic development of the municipality, set to become one of the Atlantic Department’s emblematic landmarks, serving as a point of reference for both locals and visitors.
Less than 20 kilometers from Puerto Colombia, another notable figure stands out—a slender statue with prodigious hips, honoring the woman who brought Colombian music to the world stage.
This is the monument to Shakira, located on the Great River Walk in Barranquilla. It pays tribute to the ‘barefoot’ singer, one of the greatest pop genre exponents and among the most renowned Colombian artists in history.
Visitors to the Atlantic’s capital, increasingly becoming the country’s tourism epicenter, will soon have the opportunity to capture unforgettable memories with this statue, fully accessible to the public in March.
